Ryan White Part B CARE Program
Ryan White Part B is a federally funded program designed to provide financial help for people with HIV for specific healthcare needs. Benefits and eligibility are determined by federal guidelines. Funds made available to Heartland Health to provide services are received from the State of South Dakota Department of Health.
All SD residences residing in Eastern South Dakota must meet with a case manager from Heartland Health to determine eligibility for both the Ryan White Part B and ADAP programs. Please call 605-271-3317 or 605-271-4814 for an appointment with Heartland Health Resource Center.
To be eligible for Ryan White Part B potential eastern South Dakota participants must:
- Meet with a Heartland Health social worker to determine eligibility
- Be a resident of South Dakota
- Be diagnosed as HIV positive
- Have an income at or less than 300% of the federal poverty level

Benefits available through the Ryan White Part B CARE Program
- AIDS Drug Reimbursement Program (ADAP) – financial assistance for specific prescription drugs – Click here for list of covered medicine.
- Patient Care – financial assistance for specific outpatient medical and support services
- Continuation of Health Insurance – financial assistance for insurance premiums, deductibles, and co-payments
- Temporary financial assistance, based on client need
- Free mental health services for HIV positive clients and their family members
HIV Prevention services
Heartland Health provides free services to HIV positive people and persons who may be at a higher risk for contracting HIV. These services can range from one-on-one in person meetings to anonymous calls or emails. Contact us if you think we can assist you in any way.

- Mental health/Trauma Counseling
- PreP and PEP referrals
- Partner contact services
- Referrals for psychiatric services
- Community outreach
- Education and testing for at-risk individuals
- Referrals for free STD testing
- Free condoms, information and brochures, etc
