Local and national HIV resources and information

Heartland Health Resource Center helps individuals coordinate and afford HIV/AIDS related care. Our case managers will work with you one-on-one to identify appropriate healthcare professionals, arrange for government based financial assistance and provides individual therapy and support groups.  Please call 605-271-4814 (Ashley) or 605-271-4813 (Amber) or 605-271-3317 (Vicki) to discuss your needs with one of our Social Workers.

Heartland Health Resource Center can help with:

 

Finding doctors and other healthcare providers

  • Information on Infectious Disease Specialists in your area of residence
  • Assistance setting up appointments and providing transportation to those appointments
  • Information on selecting primary care providers in eastern South Dakota
  • Therapy services
  • Arranging dental appointments and/or providing referrals
  • Arranging vision appointments and assisting with cost of corrective eye wear if needed
  • Information regarding all medical needs for HIV positive clients who recently relocated to South Dakota

 

Finding information about medication, compliance and requirements for benefits

  • Information packets and free materials to assist in compliance with medication and attending physician appointments
  • Medication reminders via med ready machines, text or email or a combination of sources
  • Assistance with techniques to limit medication side effects when first beginning HIV medication regimen
  • One-on-one assistance signing up for the Aids Drug Assistance Program in order to access at no charge any of the medications listed on the South Dakota ADAP Formulary (medication cost of or co-pay that is covered for people with insurance)
